Old Glory Relay arrives Nov. 4

The Old Glory Relay will be arriving in Port St. Joe Friday afternoon, Nov. 4.

The Old Glory Relay is a fundraiser for Team Red White Blue veterans’ outreach. Team RWV is a national non-profit with a mission of connecting veterans to their community through physical and social activity.

The relay involves 62 teams running the American flag from Seattle, WS to Tampa, FL, 4,216 miles.

The relay began Sept. 11 and will end in Tampa on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

This is the third annual relay and is being sponsored by Microsoft.

The event began at sunrise on Sept. 11 and the relay has been covered in national media as the relay makes its way south and east.

The Old Glory Relay will gather in Port St. Joe at 5:30 p.m. ET Nov. 4 at the CVS on the corner of First Street and U.S. 98.

“We would like to have the community come out and show their support when the flag arrives,” said Roni Coppick, executive director of the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce.

Once the welcoming at CVS is over, the relay participants will make their way to VFW Post 10069 for dinner. The team will leave the next day at 7 a.m. ET from the same spot in front of the CVS.

Local donations and sponsors are needed to help support this event. Please contact the Chamber at 227-1223.
